The Sunshine Coast rep Falcons picked up a 1-0 win last weekend over the Vancouver Titans.
Devin Pedretti scored the lone goal in the second half. Both offence and defence worked together well in the shutout win. The Falcons evened their record at 2-2-1 on the season with the win.
Rep cup games
Rep cup games begin first round play this Saturday, Oct. 26 at the Kinnikinnick lower field.
U13 is the first year that rep teams play cup games, which is like a mini tournament played throughout the season in addition to regular league play. The games are played in "single knock-out" format, so a win keeps the team in the cup, and a loss knocks the team out.
First round games Saturday sees the Falcons hosting the Marpole Blue Aces at 11:30 a.m. followed by the U14 Sunshine Coast Thunderbirds hosting the Whistler Avalanche at 1:30 p.m.
House League
In Sunshine Coast Youth Soccer Association house league play from last weekend, the U15 Highlighters beat Team Green 8-0. Cam Longman, Quinn Longman and Kaden Sauer were goal scorers with strong play and great footwork by Liam Hage and several nice assists by Kai Moore.
In other U15 action, Blue Thunder edged Team Red 2-1.
This was a well-matched intense game. The first half was very fast paced. Red's Warner Endert, Cole Charlton and Julian Miles were extremely effective in their positions and tried to speed through Blue Thunder's defence. However, Arif Janmohamed and Avery Gartshore were solid on defence and shut down many of Red's attempts on goal.
Xavier Benjamin scored the first goal of the game for Blue Thunder. Julian responded with a very hard earned goal for Red.
In the second half, Ian McDonald was very strong defensively for Red and prevented many goals. However Jacob Simkins carried the ball into the offensive zone many times and his hard work resulted in the second goal for Blue Thunder.
MVP of the game was Blue Thunder's Nofa Messner who saved the day many times by shutting down numerous attacks by Red.
