Elphinstone is off to the wildcard golf playoffs with a provincial championship berth on the line after a second place finish Monday at the North Shore championships.

Elphi finished with a team score of 334, taking second place to Collingwood who won the North Shore banner with an impressive round of 313. Seycove was third with a 360 total, followed by Chatelech in fourth, with a score of 361. The top two teams from Monday's championship, held at the Sunshine Coast Golf and Country Club in Roberts Creek, advanced to the Vancouver and District wildcard playoffs set for May 18 at McCleary Golf and Country Club.

Since Collingwood is hosting this year's provincial championships (May 29 to April 1 at the Squamish Golf and Country Club), they received an automatic bid, meaning Elphi and Seycove earned a berth into the wildcard playoff. Chat missed out by one stroke.

"It's a little heartbreaking for sure," said Chat coach Dave Stoddart, "But the guys really played well down the stretch. We have such a young team. I see lots of promise for next year. I have a feeling they will do very well next season and Chat will have one of those awesome teams again."

Chat's scores for Monday included: 93 for Nate Lussier, 88 for Cailean Hourigan, 93 for Jacob Bland, 91 for Kyle Horsman and 89 for Andrew Palmer. The top four scores from the day made up the team score.

Chat finished 3-3 in the regular season with a three-match winning streak including a 7-0 win over Mulgrave in their last match on Monday, May 3.

Elphi's scores for Monday included 75 for Connor Richey, 86 from Jeremy Dempster, 90 from Clark Graham and 93 from Andrew Strom.

Elphinstone finished 5-1 in the regular season, losing 4-3 to Collingwood in their last league match on Monday, May 3.
