The Elphinstone Secondary lady Cougars continue to roll right along. Last weekend, the Elphi senior girls' volleyball team captured their second tournament title of the season, winning a tournament at Point Grey Secondary.

After a bit of a rough day on Friday in the round robin, Elphi ended up second in their pool.

The Cougars faced number one ranked Notre Dame on Saturday and beat them two straight to put Elphi in the finals against Point Grey, who had beaten them on Friday.

Coach Jan Richey said the "girls really stepped up their game" winning 25-20 and 25-10.

Kyla Richey was selected to the tournament all-star team.

In North Shore league play, Elphi won both its matches last week, 3-1 against St. Thomas Aquinas and 3-0 against Sutherland.

The Cougars have three league games left - Collingwood, West Vancouver and Sentinel.

Currently, Elphi is in second place just behind Handsworth. If Elphi wins the next three matches, that should secure home court advantage for the semifinals on Nov. 6.

Elphi is ranked number one out of AAA schools in the province according to The Province rankings.
