Gibsons Ryan Dempster improved his record to 3-6 on the season - and benefited from a huge run explosion Tuesday night as the Boston Red Sox blasted the Texas Rangers 17-5.

Dempster has been up and down for most of the season, pitching well and not getting any run support or getting the run support and not doing his part. But it all came together Tuesday night as Dempster pitched seven innings, allowing only three runs on five hits with six strikeouts and one walk.

Prior to Tuesday night, Dempster had not won since improving to 2-2 on May 2 in a 3-1 win over Toronto.
