On Sunday night, the Cubs and Cards were featured on ESPN's Sunday Night Baseball.

After falling behind 3-0 in the first inning, the Cubs battled back to take a 4-3 lead.

Dempster came on in the ninth to close out the win. He retired the first two batters, and walked a pinch hitter. He was one strike away from preserving the win, but shortstop David Eckstein singled in the tying run. It was Dempster's second blown save of the season.

But in the top of the tenth, Dempster was pulled off the hook as shortstop Neiifi Perez belted a line-drive grand slam home run that just stayed fair down the right field line, giving the Cubs an 8-4 win.

Glendon Rusch pitched a scoreless 10th for the Cubs, giving Dempster the win and squaring his record at 3-3.

On Monday night, Dempster pitched a scoreless ninth against the San Francisco Giants as the Cubs returned home to open a home stand at Wrigley Field.

The Cubs scored the winning run in the home half of the ninth to win 3-2 and give Dempster his fourth win of the season.

On Wednesday afternoon, the Cubs gave their fans another thrill.

Tied at 3-3 in the ninth, Dempster came on and shut the door, pitching a scoreless inning with one strikeout.

The Cubs bats did the rest in their half of the ninth as they scored one run to win 4-3.

Dempster was credited with the win to bring his record to 5-3. The Cubs took two of three against the Giants this week.Chicago plays host to Arizona this weekend.
