The Elphi Cougars senior girls' volleyball team locked up second place in the North Shore League this week.

Elphi won their last three league matches, 3-0 against Collingwood last Tuesday, West Vancouver 3-2 last Friday and Sentinel Monday afternoon 3-0. Elphi finishes league play with a record of 10-1. Elphi was still waiting to see where their first playoff game would be held. The game will either be on the North Shore or in Gibsons on Nov. 6.

The game location was not available at press time Thursday afternoon.

RugbyAfter a brilliant 3-0 start, the Gibsons Pigs have suffered two losses in a row, 13-7 to the Kats RFC and 35-7 to Kamloops. The team is still playing great but is missing some key players to injury and other commitments, said team rep Jim Peers."Against Kamloops we were down 5-0 at the half then took a short lived 7-5 lead. With no spares we tired and Kamloops quickly struck for three unanswered tries," said Peers.

The Pigs play at home this weekend against Ridge Meadows RFC with kickoff at 11:30 a.m. at Shirley Macy Park. Practices are now at Mary Ann West Park at 6:30 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday.

Rep BluesThe Midget Rep Blues sit with a record of 3-1-1 in tiering round play.

According to team manager Kim Cote, the Blues could have won all five games.

"Our last game was a 6-0 win over Burnaby, with Ty Dempster registering the shutout," said Cote. "We started out of the gate slow because there were no teams willing to come over to play exhibition games. We were only able to get one exhibition game before the tiering round and our club had to travel to get it. So we are getting better, it seems, with every game."Men's hockeyThe Razorbacks sit alone atop the men's A-division standings following a 4-0 win over the Hitmen last Saturday night. The game was the only scheduled contest this week.

Mike Cote scored twice and added one assist to pace the Razors. Tom Bailey and Aaron Portman added singles.
