Sunshine Coast Skating Club members are busy preparing for a pair of major competitions in the coming weeks.

The B.C. Section Super Series is in Parksville next week followed by another competition in late May.

"The club hopes to be well represented throughout the upcoming competition season and expresses their gratitude to the Sunshine Coast Regional District board for their willingness to work together in accomplishing the goal of maintaining ice for spring," said club president Jill-Marie Jarvis. "Although summer is still an issue for the club, they will continue to work diligently in ensuring skaters are getting what they need in terms of year-round training."

The club is also actively recruiting for volunteers for the 2011/12 season.

According to Jarvis, you do not have to be a member of the club to have an interest in volunteering. Nominations can be submitted via www.sunshinecoastskatingclub.ca.

The club's annual general meeting will be held at the Gibsons and Area Community Centre on April 30 at 1 p.m. The new executive will be voted in at that meeting, and awards will be presented to the membership.
