The Sunshine Coast Men's Fastpitch League started the season with three games last week.
The league will be minus the Corona Kennedy teamas they have folded. Wednesday's games featured Lons Crane at Blue Jayswith the Gun Show coming out on top by a 6-1 score highlighted by a grand slam from Jody Underwood. There are lots of new players on each team.
The other game saw the Inlet Raiders put on a demolition show and beat Custom Carpet by a 17-4 score. Raiders have injected some youth to go with the veterans and look to have a strong season.
On Friday night, July 8, the defending league and playoff champsRain'Er Shine Pirates handed Lons their first loss by a 9-4 score. Terry Williams pitched a strong game and Andrew Baron homered as the Pirates picked up where they left of last season.
This weekend will see the annual Gibsons CohoKings Tourney at Brothers Park.
Six teams will be playing all weekend starting Sat-urday at 9 a.m. until 8 p.m., then the same on Sunday.
Four teams from Van-couver including defending champs Squamish Wizards will be here. Canadians, Surrey Rebels and Burnaby Dukes, all fromVancouver Premier league, make this an especially strong tourney, so look for some competitive games. There is also an on-field saloon serving refreshments for the adults and a concession. Come and support your local teams, the CohoKings and Custom Carpet.
