The U10 boys put in a lot of extra time on the pitch preparing for the 2016 Whitecaps Adidas Cup soccer tournament, April 2 and 3.
Coaches Ian and Grant Marshall worked many evenings in the pouring rain to bring this team together to face some tough competition in Surrey.
The Thunder faced off against the Cliff Avenue Bayern Munchkins on Saturday. Some amazing goal-tending and defence led the team to an eight-point win.
Saturday afternoon the team faced some tougher competition against the VAFC Cosmos, but kept their cool and pulled their second win of the tournament. The boys played so well together, making some excellent passes and some fantastic shots on net.
Sunday morning the Thunder had a rough start down 2-0 after the first half, but came back strong in the second, winning with three goals in less than five minutes.
The Sunshine Coast played their last game Sunday afternoon against the Black Dragons and clinched it with another win, going undefeated throughout the tournament. These boys showed a great deal of dedication and commitment from start to finish – and it sure paid off.
