Coastlongboarding.com presents Attack of Danger Bay V. The fifth annual international downhill longboarding race will feature $5,000 in prizes - the biggest prize purse in the world for the sport.

"Hosted by the Pender Harbour community, Coast Longboarding and all the volunteers have been working hard to put on the most exceptional and entertaining event yet," said event organizer Bricin Lyons. "Aiming to raise awareness for one of the fastest growing sports in history, this year's race is going to be bigger and better than last year's event thanks in part to the local community's support along with our generous sponsors."

An exhilarating and thrilling professional downhill longboarding race is scheduled for Sunday, May 21, on Francis Peninsula.

Friday night festivities will start off with racer registration and the creation of the longboarders campsite community. On Saturday morning the racers will take part in Canada's second annual slide competition, judged by the legendary Cliff Coleman.

Next, the racers will ride in the 61st annual May Day Parade and celebrations, followed by the action-packed and comical longboard hockey tournament featuring the LHL All Stars against The Jaks Team.

"This fun-filled day is made for everyone; all are welcome," Lyons said.

Sunday morning, more than 100 racers will race in heats until the final four are reached.

"The final heat will race for a first prize of $2,000 and with this year's prizes reaching $5,000 you know they'll be racing hard and showing the spectators what this sport is all about," added Lyons.

Sunday evening at Madeira Park Community Hall, an energetic live concert will take place as part of the all-ages awards show featuring some of the best punk bands around. With the likes of local favourites Loose Tooth, Cambridge, Side Sixty Seven and the Dayglow Abortions, this show is not to be missed.
