Coast golfers show well at junior event

Several junior golfers from the Sunshine Coast put in solid results over the Easter long weekend at the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour event at the Morgan Creek Golf Course in Surrey.

Andrew Strom of Gibsons tied for 10th in the boys 17 to 19 division with a score of 164 (rounds of 78 and 86), Jacob Bland of Sechelt finished in a tie for 30th in the boys 14 to 16 division with a score of 174 (rounds of 95, 79), and Trevor Smith of Roberts Creek finished 41st with a score of 193 (rounds of 103, 90).

In the boys 13 and under division, Sechelt's Keenan Flemming finished tied for 10th with a 176 score (rounds of 87 and 89). Jacob also took home the Golf Town Comeback Award in his age division.

The non-profit Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour presented by Boston Pizza is Canada's premier and only national junior tour run exclusively by PGA of Canada Professionals and the 'Road to College Golf' for aspiring young players. The organization hosts more than 60 events across Canada, including free Ford Go Golf Junior Clinics, the MJT Mini Tour for 7 to 12 year olds and multi-day events for competitive players which also qualify juniors for international competitions.
