Chatelech sports season in full swing

SD46

The Chatelech Secondary hockey season starts this week with the first skate on Tuesday at 7 a.m. at the Sunshine Coast Arena in Sechelt. This is a weekly event for all age groups, boys and girls and School District No. 46 staff. Vice principal Mark Sauer said last year a couple of teams competed at a tournament on Vancouver Island and he’s hoping that will be the case again this year.

The juvenile girls volleyball team is travelling on Tuesday to Handsworth Secondary School on the North Shore for their semi-final match. The senior girls play at home on Wednesday against Elphinstone, at 4 p.m. The Chatelech and Elphinstone senior girls teams will be competing in the AA zone finals in Richmond on Nov. 16.

Basketball will soon be underway and Chatelech Secondary is looking for volunteers to help out with programs. The school is running a Grade 10 girls team, a Grade 10 boys team and a senior boys team. If more coaches can be secured, there may be additional teams, Sauer said. Anyone interested should contact Sauer at [email protected]
