The Chatelech Ski and Snowboard Team has had a great showing on the scoreboard this season. All races take place on Whistler-Blackcomb, and the great conditions and ample snowfall has made this a stellar year.
Pearl Deasey has placed first in all three of the snowboarding races she has participated in. Evelyn Klassen is right behind her in second place for all three races, and won first place in the Boardercross Terrain GS.
Chatelech Snowboarding Boys have had multiple top 10 placements, including great showings from Will Magnussen and Cole Shutz. David Hardwick placed 11th in the last race, and Quillan Lightfoot has been consistently climbing the scoreboard.
In girls skiing, Paige Franken placed in the top three this year, and Paige Doyle, in Grade 8, took second in the Boardercross. These two racers show amazing promise for Chatelech’s racing future. Hollie Piepjohn, in Grade 12, and Julie Broddart, an international student, placed in the top 10 this year as well.
In the boys skiing category, Malcolm Stoddart placed fourth in two of his races, with Nolan McKenna also placing in the top 10. Jack Campbell was just behind him in 11th place in his last race. One of our newest racers, Kylan Maybe, is also an important contributor to the team.
We are thrilled that each racer pushes themselves to their personal best, and shows amazing team spirit and dedication. The team is looking forward to two more races, and competing in the finals on Feb. 8.
