Chatelech second at North Shores

The Chatelech golf team is off to the Vancouver and District zone championships after a second place finish at the North Shore championships May 8 at the Squamish Valley Golf Club.

The Chatelech golf team is off to the Vancouver and District zone championships after a second place finish at the North Shore championships May 8 at the Squamish Valley Golf Club.

Collingwood finished first, Elphinstone was third and Windsor fourth with the top two teams advancing.

"We were in a bit of a pinch on Wednesday, as Avery Struck was on the Island at the CN Future Links event during the week," said Chatelech coach Quinn Campbell. "Missing one of our best golfers put the pressure on the remaining four (Jacob Bland, Andrew Flockhart, Keenan Flemming and Jordy Fawcett), but they all played solid rounds."

The Vancouver and Districts were held on Wednesday (results were not available at press time) at the Fraserview Golf Club in Vancouver.

According to Campbell, it appears the zone tournament will feature five teams, with schools from Vancouver, Richmond, Burnaby, and the two from the North Shore zone, Chatelech and Collingwood.

"Depending on the berth allocation for our zone, the top two (possibly three) teams from this event will qualify for the AA provincial championships, which are being held at the Arbutus Ridge Golf Club in Cobble Hill on Vancouver Island during the last week of May," added Campbell.
