Chat girls edge Elphi

The Chatelech Eagles won the battle of the Coast last Thursday. The senior girls won their first league game of the season, toppling their rivals from Elphinstone 43-26. Earlier in the week, Chat lost 62-40 to Howe Sound.

Earlier in the week, Chat lost 62-40 to Howe Sound. The Eagles sit at 1-7 in league play with one game left on Feb. 6 in North Vancouver against Windsor.

The Cougars are 0-7 in league play and have two games remaining, Feb. 7 in North Vancouver against Mulgrave and Feb. 8 at home against Rockridge.

In senior boys action, Howe Sound blasted the Eagles 104-79 last Thursday night in Squamish.

The Eagles played host to Seycove Tuesday night and hit the road last night (Thursday) to play Sentinel.

Next Monday Chat visits Windsor.

Elphi was off last week from league play, but entertained Mulgrave last night in Gibsons.

In junior boys play, Elphi saw its record slip to 2-4 in league play following a 76-37 loss to Handsworth Jan. 22.

Elphi hits the road to play Rockridge Feb. 7.

The Chat junior girls dropped to 0-7 in league play after losing 55-39 to Seycove last Wednesday in Sechelt.

The juvenile boys from Chat are 1-2 in league play, following a pair of back-to-back defeats. The Eagles lost 65-43 to Sentinel Jan. 19 and dropped a 59-28 contest to West Vancouver last Wednesday. Chat played Mulgrave Wednesday night. Results were not available at press time.

The Elphi juvenile boys are 0-3 in league play, following a close 57-54 loss to Rockridge on Jan. 24.

Elphi visits Chat on Feb. 5, set for a 3:45 p.m. tip-off.
