The Inlet Raiders have yet to find the winning formula to beat the North Vancouver Canadians. But at least this year's contest was closer.

The Canadians edged the Raiders 6-4 in an entertaining contest last Saturday night at the Sunshine Coast Arena.

North Van led 5-1 after the first period, and it looked like it would be a rout until the Raiders turned it on in the third."What looked like a rout got derailed in the second after we hit a few posts and crossbars and their goalie came up big a couple of times," said North Van goalie Glen Edwards. "We then kind of got sloppy from the goal out and the momentum seemed to shift.

They had some good chances in the first two periods, but the Raiders really poured it on in the third. We kind of pinched a bit too much and got caught on our heels the final period. The last 10 minutes were a bit of a scramble."

John Woodgard and Pat Kosela each scored a pair of goals for the Canadians while Carey Brown and Nate deBoer, who the Canadians picked up from the Midway Power/Grasshopper Pub Hitmen, added singles.

Mike Cote, Chris Young, Bill Stockwell and Darren Kohuch scored Raiders' goals. Jarred Rutley also added two assists.Edwards said a couple of last minute injuries left the Canadians a few players short and three players subbed in from the Hitmen.

"Our team would like to say thanks to the Raiders for a great game and kudos to the team's significant others for putting out a great table of post-game food," said Edwards. "We enjoy coming up and also the social aspect after the game upstairs. It's why we keep coming back."
