In women's league soccer action, Blazers notched another victory with a 5-2 win over the Banana Peppers last week,
Blazers got a hat trick from Astrid Bradbury and singles from Chelsea Holm and Christine Campbell, and excellent defence from Nicole Crouteau. Mary Mackay and Samantha Howitt scored for the ever-improving Peppers in a very respectable result against last year's league champs.
Marshall Mayhem also won 9-1 in their match against Fusion.
In men's league play at Lions Park the Sechelt Chiefs faced the Pender Harbour Bananas where Scott Johnson ran a mock, putting five in the net, and when he got double-teamed, that only left 'Flyin' Ryan Paul open to put one in the net. However, that didn't keep the impeccable sportsmen from Pender from laying out their signature deluxe barbecue spread post-match.
The Sita FC soccer juggernaut rolled through Halfmoon Bay this week, leaving tattered nets, dug up goalmouths and a 5-1 score in its wake.
Sitas got singles from Rich Watson and Tobias Brunner with a hat trick from Mike 'El Machino' Brown, who played whack-a-mole with HMB defence, popping up unexpectedly all over the goal area to score before defenders could retaliate. HMB had a Mike Cowie-sized hole in its backline, who has taken a year off reportedly to study Sufi mysticism.
At Hackett Park it was CPU 4 Ridgepoint 1, in a tight game that only broke down in the final 15 minutes. Goals came from Martin Blackwell, Ted Chisholm, Fumi Takahashi, and Eric Pinfold for CPU and from Mike Husband for Ridgepoint.
Bruins backline Goliath Jesse ''Agnasaurus'' Agnew clanged heads with CPU forwards, making them ask themselves if 50/50 balls were really worth it, while CPU's netminder John Lussier fended off relentless firepower from Ridgepoint strikers.
