In the women's league, the ever-second-place,always-a-bridesmaid Blazers look like the team to beat this year.
Blazers shut out the Ya Yas 5-0 with Blazers getting a pair from Ashley Taylor and singles fromChristine Campbell, Dawn Clancy and a nice header knocked in from Jackie-O Ostrosky. Playmaking Campbell had a foot in setting up all three other goals.

North Coast Pender faced South Coast Pigs, and the Banana Peppers lost the match 5-0, though without a peep of complaint and with plenty of peppy good spirits. Pender has a tradition of putting together great teams from a small population, and odds are after a couple of seasons of getting acquainted, these women will be contenders.

For HMB it was Thanks-giving a week early as Mike Cowie and Co. corralled a shorthanded Ridgepoint back into their defensivecoup and had a 6-1 turkey shoot against the current league leaders. Goals came from a steamrolling Greg Stinson, Colin Wright with three and Cowie with two. Eoin Walker and Mike Husband scored for Ridgepoint.
It was a 3-3 tie at the Ted Dixon derby between IGFC and the Sechelt Chiefs.
IGFC's goals came from 'Rippling' Ryan Paul, Thomas Bidding, who got impatient with defending and ran up to score, and from Adam August who hammered in a header to put IGFC up a goal. Chiefs countered with strikes from Toby Baptiste and Curtis Craigan and almost went up in the last minute on a penalty shot missed by a striker who will remain anonymous, but whose name rhymes with 'Flat Toe'.
