Lon's Gun Show flexed their muscles this week, picking up a three to move into a two-way tie for first with the Pirates in the Sunshine Coast Men's Fastball League.

On July 4, Gun Show shut out the Lighthouse/WC IGA Brewers 7-0 behind the strong pitching of Mike Sopow.

Nate Deboer and Robbie Turlock were strong up the middle defensively, and Mike Husband also chipped in by gunning out two guys from centre field, the second one resulting in a double play.

For the Brewers, Luke Hayward got the start and pitched well in the loss. Andy Marsh made an amazing diving catch at shortstop. Bill Stockwell came in for the final three innings, holding Gun Show to only one run.

In other action last Wednesday, the Pirates beat RJS 18-7.

Andrew Baron, James Pomfret, Josh Grey-Pearl and Cale Fraser all homered for the Pirates.

Custom Carpet beat the Relics 10-4 last Wednesday.

Matt Fawcus pitched all seven for Custom, getting the win. Fawcus, James Kennedy and Bryon Benner all homered for Custom. Rick Allan tried to match their efforts, but was only able to find the warning track for Custom.

On Friday, July 7, Gun Show beat RJS 14-6 with the whole Gun Show pitching staff seeing some innings. Deboer picked up the save, pitching the final two innings with three strikeouts and one hit batter. He also supported his own cause by hitting a home run. Steve Stevenson also hit well for the Gun Show, going four for five, with three RBIs. He also threw out a runner stealing second.

The young pitching staff for RJS is looking stronger every outing as Coty Haikonen pitched the first four innings.

In the other game last Friday, the Brewers beat the Relics 7-2.

On Monday night, Gun Show beat the Relics 13-4 while Pirates edged the Brewers 7-4.
