Last weekend at the Sunshine Coast Arena in Sechelt and the Gibsons and Area Community Centre, the Sunshine Coast Minor Hockey Association hosted a pair of tournaments: an Atom C and Peewee C.

The Peewee tournament was a round robin affair featuring a pair of teams from the Sunshine Coast along with the Seafair Jr. Islanders, and two teams from Powell River representing the Royal Bank and Scotia Bank.

Seafair finished tops in the standings with a perfect 4-0 record, followed by Powell River Royal at 2-1-1, Powell River Scotia at 1-1-2, the SC Blues C1 at 0-2-2 and the SC Blues C2 at 0-3-1.

The bronze medal game on Sunday saw Powell River Scotia edge SC C1 by a score of 4-3 and the Islanders winning the gold medal, beating Powell River Royal 2-1.

The Atom tournament featured six teams broken down into two pools of three for round robin play.

In pool A, the Langley Griffins finished 3-0, followed by the Semiahamoo Thunderbirds at 1-0-2 and the SC Blues C2 at 1-2.

In pool B, the Aldergrove Phantoms and Semiahmoo Gladiators finished with identical 1-1-1 records, but the Gladiators were awarded first place based on a better goals against. SC C1 finished at 0-3.

The Phantoms beat the Thunderbirds 5-4 to win the bronze medal while Langley beat the Gladiators 9-4 to win the gold medal.
