The third annual BC Bike Race, the ultimate single-track mountain bike race, rolls through Sechelt on Canada Day, July 1.

Riders are expected to arrive in the early afternoon at the finish line at Kinnikinnick Elementary School following day four of racing in the seven-day event. Racers start day five bright and early on July 2, leaving Sechelt to tackle the challenging Rat Race course during the fifth stage to Gibsons before heading to Horseshoe Bay and into the Sea to Sky corridor, Squamish and Whistler, to complete the final two stages.

Local Kris Sneddon and his riding partner Barry Wicks of Team Kona are back to defend their title.

"The BC Bike Race was one of the best events of my career, and win or lose, I'm going back to rock those trails," Sneddon said.
