Bantam Blues win banner

Minor hockey

The Sunshine Coast Bantam Rep Blues entered the President Series with six similarly ranked teams, each playing for points, including sportsmanship points.

The team played some of their best hockey during their four games on the Feb. 28 to March 1 weekend.

The Blues had the edge over North Delta A3, Cloverdale A3 and Port Moody A2 in close games for the series win.

“The boys should be proud of this accomplishment,” said head coach Albert Bezaire.

They had the most wins, lowest goals against and lowest penalty minutes of any team in the eight-game series. This is a big improvement from the start of the season when they were in tough with higher ranked teams. Through the season the boys learned the importance of playing as a team and their hard work resulted in a rewarding finish and a banner that will hang from the rafters at the Gibsons and Area Community Centre.
