The Bantam Rep Blues are assured of at least a top four finish at the provincial tier 3 minor hockey championships in West Kelowna.
The Blues were playing for a bronze medal in the third place game against Terrace on Thursday morning as Coast Reporter went to press.
The Blues finished round robin play Tuesday night with a record of 2-1-1 in their division, good for second place behind Terrace, who finished with a record of 4-0.
Quesnel won the other division with a record of 2-1-1, while Dawson Creek finished second.
In Wednesday's semifinals, the Blues lost 5-4 to Quesnel, while Dawson Creek edged Terrace 3-2.
In the semifinal loss, Justin Fodchuk had a hat trick, while Koulton Cousins scored the other goal.
Sunshine Coast led 3-1 in the second period, when Quesnel stormed back with three goals to take a 4-3 lead after two.
Sunshine Coast scored the equalizer early in the third, but Quesnel picked up the game winner with 8:50 to go in the game.
The tournament featured 10 teams in two pools of five with only the top two in each division advancing to the semifinals after the round robin.
The Blues started round robin play on Sunday with a 3-3 tie against Whitehorse.
Whitehorse opened up a 2-0 lead, but the Blues battled back with two in the second period. Markers came from Nevan Flay assisted by Terrance Josephson and Caymen Froude, and Justin assisted by Koulton and Nevan.
Whitehorse rounded out the scoring in the second period to take a 3-2 lead. But in the third, the Blues tied the game on Justin's second goal assisted by Terrance.
On Monday, the Blues blasted Alberni Valley 8-2 on the strength of a five-goal third period.
Scoring for the Blues were Terrance with three goals and one assist, Koulton with a pair, and singles from Jarred Bothwell, Justin and Nevan. Justin also added three assists and Brendin Gray had a strong game as well, setting up a pair of goals.
On Tuesday, the Blues suffered their first loss in a 7-3 setback against Terrace.
Terrace opened the scoring in the second period, but the Blues answered back, scoring a pair of goals from Kai Greler and Timothy Walters in a 22-second span.
Terrace got one back minutes later, but the Blues took the lead before the end of the second as Jarred scored on a nice set-up from Terrance and Caymen.
In the third, Terrace busted the game open, scoring five times to come away with the win.
The Blues then regrouped Tuesday night in a must-win game against West Kelowna, and the Coast boys delivered with an impressive 10-3 victory.
The Blues led from start to finish, opening up a 2-1 lead after the first, a 5-2 lead after the second and pouring in five more in the third.
Goal scorers included Justin and Terrance, each scoring twice, with singles by Koulton, Jarred, Kai, Grayson Bush, Jordon Robinson and Brendin.
