Halfmoon Bay's David Arduin returned in a big way for Geneseo the weekend of Jan. 6.

Arduin was named the men's player of the week for the second time this season. He returned to the line-up after two months away due to a knee injury.

Arduin had four goals and one assist in a two-game series against Franklin Pierce as Geneseo won 5-4 and 8-0. He is currently third on the team with 11 points (eight goals and three assists).

Richey returns to T-Birds line-up

After spending most of the first half of the season with the national women's team and nursing a knee injury over the Christmas break, Roberts Creek's Kyla Richey stepped up to lead UBC to a two-match sweep last weekend against the Thompson Rivers University Wolfpack.

Richey had four kills on just six attacks in the second set of Friday's three-game sweep of the Wolfpack for the Thunderbirds.

She finished with a match-high 12 kills on .304 hitting, adding six digs, seven block assists and one solo block, in addition to a solid serving performance that earned her two aces.

"Very efficient offensive performance, and the numbers could easily have been higher," said head coach Doug Reimer of his star outside hitter. "She tipped a couple balls out of bounds that she can clean up easily, and when you look at her numbers across the board, she served the ball well, she was great passing and she was in on eight blocks. So without question, she contributed in every area of the game on a lot of points."

The T-Birds continued their strong play winning in straight sets Saturday night to remain in first place at 11-1.

This weekend will prove to be one of the toughest of the season thus far as they host 8-3 Manitoba at War Memorial gym and then hit the road for a weekend series (Jan. 27/28) against 12-2 Winnipeg.
