The Sunshine Coast Golf and Country Club (SCGCC) is proud to offer a comprehensive junior golf program open to boys and girls aged six to 18.

Annual memberships range from $115 to $215 depending on year of birth and include free admission into a summer junior clinic, entry into fun tournaments and social events, discounts on private lessons and access to our KidsKlubs program which provide you with a properly sized set of clubs to use for the season for a cost of $50 (plus deposit). See www.sunshinecoastgolf.com for more details.

The first series of summer junior clinics is scheduled for the four Saturdays in June. Level one is open to juniors ages six to 18 who have little or no golf experience. Level two is for juniors ages 10 to 18 who have completed level one in the last 12 months.

The girls club, now in its third year, is an introduction to golf for girls ages six to 18. For the last session on June 28 there will be a mini-tournament with food and prizes for everyone. Registration is required in advance by calling the pro shop at 604-885-9212.

The cost for non-members is $50 plus GST for all four weeks.

For those of a more advanced age, but not necessarily golfing ability, summer adult golf clinics are June 8 to 9 and 15 to 16 from 5 to 6 p.m. This four-part series will cover all the fundamentals to get you going on this great game. $100 plus GST includes the four hours of instruction and a weekday sundown golf pass so you can take what you've learned onto the course. Spaces are limited so call the pro shop to reserve your spot.

Finally, for experienced golfers ready to test their game the Player's League in conjunction with the Sechelt Golf and Country is back for its fourth year.

The Players League provides a competitive venue for the Coast's best golfers of all ages to compete against each other in individual and team scratch golf events (no handicaps). It follows a season-long order of merit format with the final event and banquet/prize presentation scheduled for Friday, Aug. 28. Once again, the league owes a large debt of gratitude to its main sponsor, Jim Budd at Investors Group. The 2009 season begins tonight (Friday) at 4 p.m. at the SCGCC. League membership is $50 and the weekly Friday afternoon events are a $10 entry fee.
