It was a busy few weeks at the Sunshine Coast Golf and Country Club with the men's, women's and junior club championships being contested.

Seventy-five men, the largest men's club championship field in club history, enjoyed firm and fast course conditions Aug. 22 and 23.

Seventy-two holes were not enough to decide a winner, however, as Gary Goodison and Jesse Ostrosky were forced into a playoff to decide a champion after tying with scores of 72, 75 for a 147 total over the two days.

Goodison survived the dramatic playoff on the second hole to capture the title. Doug Proby claimed the low net championship with net scores of 67, 67 for a 134 total. Ostrosky was the low gross runner-up, while Bruce Robinson, with a 138 total, was low net runner-up.

The women's club championship was no less dramatic. Twenty-seven women took to the course over the weekend to contest the championship. Round one leader Joan Davey battled valiantly, but could not hold off the second round charge from Donna Thompson as Thompson claimed the championship by one shot with scores of 86, 83 and a 169 total.

Davey won the low net championship with net scores of 64, 68, 132.

Juanita Wannamaker with a 172 total was low gross runner-up while Glad Elson with a 136 total was the low net runner-up.

On Aug. 17 and 18, the club hosted its Junior Club Championship. Once again the weather was perfect and the course was in great shape. Ostrosky claimed the championship with scores of 77, 78, 155. Jacob Bland claimed the low net championship with scores of 69, 67, 136 while Michelle McDonald claimed the junior girls championship with scores of 94, 91, 185.

Jake Davidson was the low gross runner-up with a 160 score while Andrew Strom was the low net runner-up with a score of 139.
