Riders form up at the Sunshine Coast Dirt Bike Association’s second annual Grey Creek Grind on Oct. 9.

The Sunshine Coast Dirt Bike Association (SCDBA) on Oct. 9 held its second annual Grey Creek Grind fun-ride and fundraising event to support local trail maintenance and give something back to the outdoor community.

Two courses were flagged out, one offering intermediate riders a route to the Mount Richardson Lookout and another offering more advanced riders a longer, more difficult route.

Despite the forecast, 35 riders attended ranging in age from 17 to 70 years old.

An abundance of raffle prizes and cash was donated by almost two dozen businesses, reaching close to $2,500 in all and supplemented by a $500 donation from the Sunshine Coast Community Forest earmarked for tools and trail maintenance.

The SCDBA hosted a barbecue afterwards to enjoy some burgers and salmon just as the skies started to pour.

The SCDBA thanks all the sponsors, volunteers, participants, friends and family for another successful event.
