Parents in Pender Harbour concerned that children are at risk because of drivers who don’t respect traffic rules around school buses could be closer to their goal of getting dash cams installed on buses.

A dearth of green-waste drop-off options for commercial operators in the Gibsons area has been putting small landscaping and gardening business owners in a lurch for too long, says Sunshine Coast Regional District (SCRD) director Donna McMahon.

Gibsons council has voted in favour of moving ahead with zoning and Official Community Plan amendments that would allow a three-storey, 40-unit supportive housing facility on the two lots fronting 749 School Rd., the former RCMP building.

A new Gibsons-based group is aiming to complement the work of conservation officers on the Sunshine Coast to stop bears and other wildlife from being destroyed because of conflicts with humans.

The Sunshine Coast Model Railroad Club will have a new home for 2020.

After an uninterrupted 50-year run, Sea Cavalcade in Gibsons went on hiatus in 2019, with the Sea Cavalcade Society citing difficulty filling volunteer positions as one of the reasons.

It began as an ad hoc committee under the auspices of Community Futures last January. In July the group acquired official non-profit status.
