Sunshine Coast RCMP are asking for information from the public in identifying the suspects of several recent break and enters. On Dec. 22 at approximately 11:20 p.m.

Sunshine Coast RCMP reported the following for the week of Jan. 1 to Jan. 7: On Jan. 2 a shopper let his wallet in a cart at a business in the 5700 block of Cowrie Street in Sechelt.

Businesses that sell or lease taxable goods, or sell software or taxable services in B.C., are now able to register to collect the tax. Registration for the provincial sales tax opened Jan. 2. The PST will be re-implemented April 1.

Sechelt residents can apply to have a free street tree installed in front of their property through the Adopt a Street Tree program. In 2012, Sechelt planted more than 80 trees under this partnership program.

Sunshine Coast RCMP focused on road safety during the month of December, taking 18 impaired drivers off the roadways. This was up from last year's totals of 17 impaired drivers.

More than one million home owners in British Columbia may be eligible to receive the entire home owner grant again this year as the provincial government is increasing the threshold for the grant by $10,000 to $1.

Roberts Creek Elementary School and Chatelech Secondary School have new staff members after official announcements at the end of December by School District No. 46 (SD46). ChristaRive was appointed principal in Roberts Creek.

School District No. 46 (SD46) is looking into the possibility of an international exchange with students from Korea. In the superintendent's report at the Dec. 11 board meeting, an item regarding international education was discussed.
