A happy crowd will fill the Sunshine Coast Arts Centre, in Sechelt on Saturday as young artists will be presented with awards recognizing their achievements in the visual arts.
A special event starting at 1 p.m. will feature the young artists and their work. The jury of artists Greta Guzek, Morley Baker and Alex Cieslik have selected seven artists from age five to 18 to recognize with gift cards for art materials. The young artists' work will be on view in the Doris Crowston Gallery until Nov. 16. Exhibited at the same time will be all the banner designs submitted by Sunshine Coast students. Awards will also be presented to the students whose banners have been chosen to decorate Sechelt streets next summer. The Sunshine Coast Arts Council is grateful to two long-standing supporters of this Young Artists Awards program: the Sechelt Rotary Club and the Sunshine Coast Teachers' Association; and this year we welcome new donors: Tanglewood Studio, Norman Hooper of Hooper Engineering and Opus Framing & Art Supplies.
The public is welcome at all Sunshine Coast Arts Council receptions and we look forward to welcoming you to celebrate with our youngest artists.
