Sunshine Coast RCMP reported the following for Feb. 16 to 23: Early on Feb. 16, a thief threw a rock through a window of a business in the 5500 block of Sunshine Coast Highway to gain entry and stole several display items as well as some alcohol.

Early on Feb. 16, a thief threw a rock through a window of a business in the 5500 block of Sunshine Coast Highway to gain entry and stole several display items as well as some alcohol. Some of the stolen goods were recovered nearby.

In the last two months, two suspects appear to have targeted a business in the 5500 block of Sunshine Coast Highway and stolen several TV's. One suspect is described as a possibly Native or Asian male, 35 to 40 yrs old, of average height and weight, with long black hair. The second suspect is described as Caucasian male with blonde hair, clean cut, wearing a black leather jacket. Anyone with any info about these two suspects is asked to contact RCMP at 604-885-2266.

A passerby reported a possible break and enter in progress at a residence in the 8000 block of Southwood Road after hearing running and smashing sounds coming from inside the house. A member attended and spoke with the homeowner, who explained that the family was watching the Olympics and banging on cow bells in support of the athletes. The homeowner was thankful for the passerby's concern.

Police were called to a disturbance near Oceanview Drive and Laurel Road after residents reported continued shouting and revving of engines. Upon attendance, members located two intoxicated females unsuccessfully attempting to get a vehicle out of the ditch. The driver was issued a 24-hour driving suspension and both females were issued violation tickets for being drunk in public. They were then transported to the detachment to be lodged in cells until sober. The vehicle was towed.

In three related files on Feb. 18, a theft of a fire extinguisher was reported from a business in the 5550 block of Wharf Road. Shortly afterwards, police responded to a report of a dine and dash at a business in the 5700 block of Teredo Street. The suspects from the dine and dash then used the stolen fire extinguisher to damage a vehicle parked at a business in the 5700 block of Wharf Road. Surveillance footage captured the suspects at one of the scenes, and members were able to identify the four males. The suspects were located and questioned. The files are still under investigation.

On Feb. 19, a homeowner in the 900 block of Davis Road reported a rowdy group of youths possibly setting off fireworks or throwing rocks at houses. Members made patrols and located a group of youths near the Gibsons and Area Community Centre, but the group ran into the bushes to evade police. The homeowner later confirmed that rocks thrown at house had caused some minor damage.

Several reports of vandalism and mischief in the Elphinstone area came in between Feb. 18 and 19 as residents discovered egged vehicles, paint-balled houses, thefts from unlocked vehicles and damage to vehicles. All these incidents are occurring in the late evening/early mornings. Anyone with any information about the suspects is asked to contact RCMP.

Police attended to a report of a flipped over vehicle in the 6700 block of Sechelt Inlet Road, and found a vehicle on its side, with no driver or passenger in sight. While the member investigated the vehicle, a male returned to the scene and admitted he was the driver and that he had been drinking. The male was issued a 24-hour driving prohibition and several violation tickets.
