: The Sunshine Coast Regional District’s new ice resurfacer, which staff have dubbed “The Wolf,” cleans the newly installed ice at Gibsons & Area Community Centre this week.
The engo-brand machine came all the way from Italy. As the model’s name is “IceWolf,” staff thought “The Wolf” was a good name for the new machine, shared SCRD communications manager Aidan Buckley. “Staff have been learning the ropes on the new machine the past two weeks and are realty excited to put it to use this season,” he said.
Also new to the arena is the Coastal Tsunami’s logo at centre ice. The community centre will be home to the Pacific Junior Hockey League’s newest team come fall. The Tsunami’s inaugural game is Sept. 6 in Abbotsford. The first home game will be Sept. 12. See more information at coastalhockey.ca.
