In this edition of RCMP incident briefs for the week of May 27, it includes reports of items stolen from unlocked cars, as well as thefts from vehicles that had at least one window smashed to gain entrance.
So, you’re darned if you do and darned if you don’t. But there is a solution – don’t leave ANYTHING in your vehicle, whether it’s worth stealing or not.

Theft from vehicles
On May 1, police received a report that a vehicle parked in the 5700 block of Wharf Avenue, Sechelt, had its right passenger window smashed and a pair of expensive sunglasses were stolen. There are no witnesses, video surveillance or evidence. Police are recommending the public keep valuable items out of visual sight or locked up.
Also on May 1, a vehicle in the 5700 block of Wharf Avenue, Sechelt, had the passenger window smashed and items stolen, including two radios and small tools valuing approximately $1,000. There were no witnesses or surveillance in the area. Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to contact RCMP, reference police file 2025-2964.
On May 11, a vehicle in the 5700 block of Dolphin Street, Sechelt, had its window broken. Nothing was stolen, and there are no witnesses or surveillance. Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to contact RCMP, reference police file 2025-3268.
On May 15, a suspect stole a pair of sunglasses and some change that was in a vehicle in the 500 block of Abbs Road, Gibsons. There was no surveillance or witnesses. Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to contact RCMP, reference police file 2025-3390.
On May 18, a suspect stole a house key, a tumbler and boxes from an unlocked vehicle parked in the 5000 block of Shorncliffe Avenue, Sechelt. Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to contact RCMP, reference police file 2025-3483.
Stolen gas
On May 15, a vehicle in the 5500 block of Sechelt Inlet had approximately 50L litres of gasoline siphoned from the tank while parked. No damage, surveillance or evidence found. Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to contact RCMP, reference police file 2025-3391.
Property found
On April 17, a hockey bag with hockey equipment was located in the 5600 block of Hightide Avenue, Sechelt. Owner may claim with a detailed description within 90 days. Please reference police file number 2627.
On May 1, a camera was found in the 5100 block of Brooks Road, Halfmoon Bay. Owner may claim with a detailed description within 90 days. Please reference police file number 2025-2979.
On May 5, a portable BBQ and fire pit was located in the 5200 block of Sunshine Coast Highway, Sechelt. Owner may claim with a detailed description within 90 days. Please reference police file number 3098.
