The Sunshine Coast RCMP has recommenced its regular reports of local incidents, now on a biweekly basis. Here are the files released Nov. 1:

Impaired motor vehicle collision

On Oct. 24 at 7:30 p.m., RCMP responded to a single-vehicle collision in the 12000 Block Sunshine Coast Highway in Madeira Park. The 24 year old driver stated he was travelling too fast and missed the corner hitting a telephone pole causing the lines to fall across the highway, blocking all traffic north and south bound. The driver stated he had been drinking beer prior to driving. The driver provided a breath sample reading of Warn, which is contrary to his "N" Driver restriction. The driver was issued a 12-hour license suspension and a violation ticket for driving contrary to driver's restriction.

On Oct. 21 at 9:35 p.m., RCMP were called to a collision on Sunshine Coast Highway at Stewart Road in Gibsons. Police located a black Nissan 350z  balancing on top of the concrete median. Witnesses reported they saw the vehicle pass them in the second lane on the Sunshine Coast Highway bypass at a high rate of speed and then observed that it had crashed head-on into the median at the top of the bypass and had gone over it. Police noted a strong odour of liquor coming from the driver's breath. Breath sample was obtained and resulted in a fail reading. The driver, a 60-year-old female from Halfmoon Bay, was served with a 90-day driving prohibition and a violation ticket for driving without consideration.

On Oct. 26 at 7:30 p.m., RCMP received a report of a two vehicle collision on Sunshine Coast Highway and Whitaker Road in Sechelt. Police attended and located a red Nissan Leaf blocking the eastbound lane on Sunshine Coast Higway with significant damage to the driver side/passenger side door with airbags deployed. The driver stated he was driving eastbound and observed a vehicle driving westbound around the corner at a high rate of speed before it crashed into his vehicle and scraping their car along the concrete barrier. An orange Jeep Patriot was located at Westley Road with significant damage to the front driver side wheel and engine area. The driver stated he did not remember what had occurred after rounding the corner. Officers detected an odour of liquor coming from the drivers breath. Breath sample resulted in a reading of fail. Vehicle was impounded for 30 days and the driver received a 90-day driving prohibition.

Theft/fraud

On Oct. 23, a complaint reported to police that she had lost her wallet and subsequently found that there had been three fraudulent purchases, totalling $150. Police have reviewed video surveillance that captured two males using the complainant's bank card at a local business. Investigation is ongoing and charges of fraud are expected to be recommended.

Vandalism

On Oct. 24, a District of Sechelt bylaw officer reported graffiti damaging the Hackett Park washroom. Four females and one male with ages ranging from 13 to 19 years old were observed on video surveillance committing the damage and have been identified by police. Damage is estimated at over $10,000 in materials and labour to repair damage.

Impaired by drug

On Oct. 25, RCMP responded to a report that a female was slumped over in the driver's seat of a green Nissan Pathfinder in a parking lot in Pender Harbour.  The female driver awoke and identified herself to police. A glass pipe was observed on the floor between the driver's seat and the driver admitted to smoking methamphetamine the previous night and driving to the parking lot in the morning. The driver declined medical assistance. Police issued the driver a 24-driving prohibition.
