If your idea of a pleasant afternoon or evening includes sipping a chilled glass of wine or partaking in an ice-cold beer and enjoying a bite, while sitting on a rooftop patio overlooking Sechelt Inlet –– or if you oppose another such business in the area –– you might want to have your say at a regular meeting of district council, July 16.
The District of Sechelt is considering a food primary liquor licence application for the Breeze, a new restaurant to be located within the Telus Marina development, which will have a 135-seat capacity with 60 dedicated to a rooftop patio and another 60 for an indoor event space. As part of the liquor licence process, the district is required to ask for public opinion from residents.
Once complete, Telus Marina, located at 5981 Sechelt Inlet Rd., will include the Breeze, four suites for vacation rental, a new multi-purpose hall for community use, marine shop and boat slips.
On its website, Telus says the indoor multipurpose venue and outdoor gathering spaces will provide opportunities for a variety of cultural events, including public art installations, art exhibits, musical performances and more. The restaurant will be located on the water at 5570 Saltgrass Lane.
Sechelt council approved a development permit for the project at its March 1, 2023 council meeting and initially, Telus predicted the project could be completed as early as late 2024, but last July the company announced it would be later this year before it opens.
The agenda for the July 16 council meeting, has not been posted on the district’s website yet, but according to an ad in Coast Reporter, the meeting takes place at 7 p.m. at municipal hall, located at 5797 Cowrie St. You can also offer your opinion by email to Ian Holl, development planning manager, at [email protected] or by mail, to PO Box 129, 5797 Cowrie St., second floor, Sechelt, BC, VON 3A0.
