Applications for street patios in Sechelt may soon see a fee of $50.
The previous council opted to impose the fee during a Sept. 7 meeting. On April 5, the current council voted to give three readings to the fees and charges bylaw.
Later in the same meeting, the Sechelt Downtown Business Association applied for a licence to occupy agreement for two street patios. The patios are to be located in their same parking spots on Cowrie Street as before. This time, SDBA asked council for a three-year term instead of for one, as previously granted.
Council unanimously approved the licences.
Street patios were part of a pilot project launched in the first year of the pandemic. In 2022, the project was made permanent by Sechelt council.
