SCRD OKs support for the Lions Housing Society

A brief from the Sunshine Coast Regional District (SCRD) Oct. 27 board meeting

The outgoing SCRD board approved sending a letter of support for the Sunshine Coast Lions Housing Society (SCLHS) for an additional funding application related to the construction of its 94-unit seniors independent living apartment building for seniors with low to moderate income levels.

Chair Darnelda Siegers explained that the SCLHS is preparing a co-investment application to Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) to assist with its Arbutus building project at Greenecourt in Sechelt. She said that while $40 million in project financing has already been secured, and approval of the application under the co-investment program could result in additional funding.
