Here are all the Gibsons, Sechelt, SCRD all candidates meetings we know of

Here's where to hear what your local candidates have to say on the critical issues of the Sunshine Coast.

Ahead of local government elections on Oct. 15, Sunshine Coast organizations are hosting all candidates meetings and information sessions. As Coast Reporter becomes aware of the events, we'll post them here. If you hear of any such events not listed below, send us an email

Sunshine Coast Regional District

Town of Gibsons

  • Wednesday, Sept. 21: Gibsons Chamber of Commerce hosted an all candidates meeting at the Gibsons Royal Canadian Legion, from 6 to 8 p.m. Video link. Story to come. 
  • Wednesday, Sept. 28: Sunshine Coast Conservation Association hosts a virtual all candidates meeting focusing on climate change. 7 to 9 p.m. Zoom link.  
  • Thursday, Sept. 29: Cover the Coast all candidates meeting, focusing on housing and homelessness at Gibsons Public Market 6 to 8 p.m. Community members are invited to submit their questions ahead of time to kelly@coverthecoast.org. Also being live streamed. 
  • Tuesday, Oct. 4: Gibsons Seniors Society hosts an in-person all-candidates meeting at Harmony Hall. 4 to 6 p.m. Limited to 100 in person. Tickets available at the Hall until Sept. 30, 9 a.m. to noon. Meeting to be live streamed as well at sunshinestreaming.ca/gss. Send advance questions to gsscandidates@gmail.com. There may be a short mingle afterward.  

District of Sechelt

  • Tuesday, Sept. 27: Cover the Coast all candidates meeting, focusing on housing and homelessness at Seaside Centre from 6 to 8 p.m. Community members are invited to submit their questions ahead of time to kelly@coverthecoast.org. Also being live streamed.
  • Thursday, Sept. 29: Sunshine Coast Conservation Association is hosting a virtual all candidates meeting focusing on climate change, 7 to 9 p.m. More information to come. 
  • Monday, Oct. 3: Sechelt and District Chamber of Commerce. 6 to 9 p.m. Chatelech High School Theatre. Reserved seating for Sechelt Chamber members. Questions@secheltchamber.bc.ca.

Cover the Coast is also hosted an educational session for candidates, informing them on key housing issues and work the Sunshine Coast Housing Action Table is doing. It is facilitated by Urban Matters' Matt Thomson who produced the "Sunshine Coast Housing Needs Report - Implementation Framework" and the table's Sunshine Coast Housing Coordinator Kelly Foley.
