As this year marks the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, Coast Reporter would like to offer readers an opportunity to share memories of that terrible day.

Four attacks claimed nearly 3,000 lives and shocked the world - two airplanes crashed into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, another plane hit the Pentagon and a fourth went down near a field in Pennsylvania.

Since that time, mastermind Osama bin Laden, leader of al-Qaida, was killed by American forces in Pakistan on May 1, 2011, but the organization continues its reign of terror around the world. The World Trade Center is being rebuilt and the Flight 93 National Memorial, which covers 2,200 acres in Pennsylvania, will be dedicated to the victims of that crash this Sept. 11.

We'd like to hear memories from our readers about that fateful day, which we will publish on Sept. 9.

What were you doing when you heard about the attacks? How did you feel? How did it affect your life?

Email 100-word submissions, with the writer's first and last name to editor@coastreporter. Photos are encouraged along with a few details of who's in the picture and what they're doing (jpeg format).
