The Sunshine Coast RCMP have reported a pedestrian fatality in the 900 Block of Sunshine Coast Highway, Gibsons, at Sunnycrest Mall.
A news release from police said at approximately 11:30 a.m. July 10, Sunshine Coast RCMP attended a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian in Gibsons. Police, fire and paramedics attended the scene.
The Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service has also been called out to investigate. Police believe the person was struck by a vehicle driving in the local mall parking area, said the release. The vehicle remained on scene; the driver has been taken to the hospital for minor injuries.
The RCMP want to remind everyone to exercise heightened awareness during the summer when more pedestrians are out walking.
