Breaking with tradition, the District of Sechelt will start posting statistics from the Sunshine Coast RCMP every quarter, so four times a year on its website.
In the past, the statistics for Gibsons were presented to that town council in person by an RCMP member, while in Sechelt they were disclosed as a report to council. Coast Reporter would then make requests to both the RCMP and district for a copy and publish the findings, as it did Aug. 1.
Going forward, those statistics, which cover everything from incidents reported under the Mental Health Act, to stolen bikes and cars, to break and enter calls, will be available on the district’s website, starting this week.
