Update July 15 at 6:45 a.m.

A man wanted by police in connection to numerous thefts has been seen in Sechelt and fled from police on foot, Sunshine Coast RCMP said in an update on Friday morning.

On July 14, Sunshine Coast RCMP announced it is looking for information for two men who have active arrest warrants.

Thomas Cudworth, 33, and Jack Chisholm, 23, are suspected in "a substantial number of marine thefts since 2021 along the south coast of Vancouver Island," said an RCMP press release. They may have been seen recently in the Gibsons Harbour.

After putting out the press release, Chisholm fled from police on foot after he was seen filling a jerry can at the Tsain-Ko mall's Mobil gas station in Sechelt. At the time, he had last been seen running into the bushes behind the Independent Grocer at around 8:30 p.m. July 14.

The report from police says a boat stolen from the Wilson Creek [ts'ukw'um] area was recovered at Friendship Park in Sechelt, where Chisholm's dog was found and taken to the SPCA.

Early Friday morning, someone reported to the RCMP that Chisholm was hitchhiking in Sechelt and was dropped off in Gibsons, near the A&W restaurant at Venture and Gibsons Way.

Chisholm is described as a white man with brown hair, blue eyes, standing at 5'11 with an average build.

Anyone who sees either of the men is advised to call the police.

Anyone with information about their whereabouts is asked to call Sunshine Coast RCMP at 604-885-2266 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
