Naked man breaks into Roberts Creek house: Police report

On July 3, a resident in the 3400 block of Sunshine Coast Hwy in Roberts Creek was awakened at 5 a.m. by his dogs barking. Upon investigation, the homeowner found an unknown naked male sitting in his living room. The homeowner challenged the male who fled into the bushes, returned and became belligerent with the homeowner before fleeing toward a neighbour's house. Police attended and arrested the 37-year-old male who appeared to be suffering from severe drug and alcohol impairment. The male was transported to hospital and will be facing charges of break and enter and assault.

High-value theft of tools

On July 7, a complainant reported a theft of over $15,000 worth of tools from his trailer which was parked in the Tsain-Ko Centre parking lot at 5500 Sunshine Coast Highway in Sechelt. The theft occurred sometime overnight between  4 p.m. and 6 a.m. between July 6 and 7.  Some of the items included multiple Milwaukee brand tools, impact drivers, sawzall, drills, Dewalt tools, impact drills, Veto-Propac tool bags, Knipex hand tools, Irwin dark blue generator-fuel inverter etc. If anyone witnessed anything suspicious in the area they are asked to contact the Sunshine Coast RCMP at 604-885-2266 or email SCRCMPInfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca

Impaired driving

On July 3, Sunshine Coast RCMP stopped a vehicle in Roberts Creek that was driving erratically. The 17-year-old driver, who had only had his Class 7 license for six months, was given a roadside screening test which resulted in a fail reading. The driver was served an immediate 90-day driving prohibition and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days. The matter has been forwarded to RoadSafety BC for review.

On July 11, police were called to a report of a motorcycle crash at Fitchett Rd and King Rd in Gibsons. Strong odour of liquor was detected from the driver's breath and breath demand was made to the driver. The male driver in his 40s refused to provide a proper breath sample and was subsequently issued an Immediate Roadside Prohibition. The motorcycle was impounded and he received a violation ticket for driving contrary to his restrictions. The matter has been forwarded to RoadSafety BC for review.

Theft

On July, a resident from the 3400 block of Beach Avenue in Roberts Creek reported his boat had been stolen from its mooring sometime overnight. The resident was able to locate his boat a short distance away but a Honda 15hp motor, oars and fishing rod holders had been removed.  

Found Property

On July 5 an Apple watch was located in the IGA parking lot in Wilson Creek. Watch is being kept at the Sechelt RCMP office and can be claimed by the owner.
