Patrick Lane returns to the Coast for a reading at the Sunshine Coast Arts Centre on Nov. 14.
One of Canada's most celebrated authors, Lane is well-known to local audiences for his appearances at the Festival of the Written Arts. His more than 20 books of poetry, his short stories, non-fiction and criticism have won most of Canada's top literary awards, including the Governor General's, the Canadian Authors Association, two National Magazine Awards and the 2007 Lieutenant Governor's Award for Literary Excellence.
Best known as a poet, Lane has also won the B.C. Award for non-fiction for his 2005 book, There is a Season - A Memoir. And he now returns to the Coast as a novelist, with his remarkable debut novel, Red Dog Red Dog, which brings all the power of his poetic language into the lines of his narrative. He will read from the novel and from his recent volume of poetry, The Last Water Song.
The reading will be at 8 p.m. Admission is free, courtesy of the Canada Council and the Sunshine Coast Arts Council.
