Medical emergency causes sailing delays

A medical emergency aboard the 4:30 p.m. Aug. 1 sailing aboard the Queen of Surrey put the rest of the Saturday schedule way behind.

A medical emergency aboard the 4:30 p.m. Aug. 1 sailing aboard the Queen of Surrey put the rest of the Saturday schedule way behind.

According to Surrey staff, the sailing had left the dock at Horseshoe Bay on Saturday when someone suffered what was described to Coast Reporter as a "life threatening" emergency. The Surrey returned to Horseshoe Bay where the person was off-loaded to a waiting ambulance. The emergency caused a 56-minute sailing delay for the remainder of the day.

BC Ferries staff could not be reached for further comment.
