From casual viewers to diehard fans, there was something for everyone at the Lillooet Car Show last Sunday.

Hundreds of spectators turned out for the first Lillooet Car Show event, held June 4 at the Cayoosh Creek Campground from noon to 4 p.m. The show featured everything from Mustangs to GMC trucks to go-karts. In total, over 40 vehicles entered the show, organized by Lillooet A&W owner Doug Atkinson and sponsored by the Lillooet Chamber of Commerce.

"We had some really high-end cars," Atkinson noted. His own classic car, a 1955 Chevy convertible, was one of the show's entrants. He spent about six months in total restoring the vehicle.

In addition to Atkinson's vehicle, many others in the show were from local car and truck enthusiasts - more than half of all entrants were from Lillooet.

Yet the judges and the public agreed: the Best in Show, as well as the People's Choice award, went to 100 Mile House resident Barry Wasyluk, for his turquoise 1940 Willies truck.

The Best Muscle Car award was won by Richard Tscritter of Chilliwack for his 1969 Camaro. Bob Elless of Lillooet was chosen as the Best Restoration award winner, for his 1947 Mercury pickup.

The Best Ride award went to Doug McDonald, also of Lillooet, for his 1971 Chevy pickup. Guy Neufeldt's 1965 Chevelle was chosen as the Best Driver vehicle in the show.
