The Sunshine Coast Regional District (SCRD) has issued an updated list of what can be left for disposal while the Sechelt Landfill undergoes compaction to fix several sinkholes.
As construction has begun to build a new public drop-off area, the Sechelt Landfill will no longer accept cooking oil, household or aerosol paint, hazardous household waste or propane tanks.
In a press release, the SCRD said the temporary ban on these items would remain in place until June 30. Residents can wait to drop off these materials on or after July 1, or arrange to take them to another facility.
Both Green Recycling in Pender Society (GRIPS) and Gibsons Recycling Depot accept paint, while propane tanks and cooking oil can be taken to the Pender Harbour Transfer Station.
