Lagoon Society starts summer programs

The Lagoon Society is pleased to announce the resumption of summer programming at the Iris Griffith Centre.

The Lagoon Society is pleased to announce the resumption of summer programming at the Iris Griffith Centre.Throughout the summer the Iris Griffith Centre will offer a fascinating variety of workshops, guided hikes, courses and recreational activities. All activities will be listed on the Lagoon Society webpage at www.lagoonsociety.com.Summer programs kick-off with a bird walk guided by Tony Greenfield on Sunday, June 4. Participants will meet at 8:30 a.m. at the Iris Griffith Centre. From there they will hike along the Klein Lake Trail, and return to the Centre at around 12:30 p.m. Cost is $20 per person, half priced for members of the Lagoon Society.On the evening of Tuesday, June 6, Dieter Weichert of Natural Resources Canada will present a lecture and slideshow entitled Earthquakes and Tsunamis in Southwest B.C.: Living on the Edge. Doors open at 7 p.m. and cost is $15 per person, half-price for members. For the younger crowd, the Lagoonies club will meet every Sunday from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Kids ages five to 13 are invited to the Iris Griffith Centre to play, explore and make new friends.
