UPDATE: AS OF 3:30 p.m. MondayHighway 101 has been re-opened in both directions to traffic following a morning accident involving two commercial vehicles.
Sunshine Coast RCMP media spokesperson Cpl. Steve Chubey told Coast Reporter just before 3:30 p.m., that the highway has been re-opened.
"The scene has been cleared, but we are still investigating and have not determined a cause yet," Chubey said. "One man was flown by air ambulance to hospital in Vancouver for treatment of lower body injuries, which do not appear to be life threatening, while the other drive was treated at the scene."
RCMP, along with paramedics and the Roberts Creek fire department responded to the head-on collision at Highway 101 and Flume Road just after 9 a.m. Monday morning.
RCMP had only one-lane open with alternating traffic going through while they investigated and cleared the scene.
