Updated: Highway 101 at Davis Bay reopened after waves push logs onto road

Same area flooded last January

Nearly a year after a section of Highway 101 flooded in Davis Bay, on Jan. 7 a similar scene unfolded as high tide pushed logs onto the road.

Traffic was being rerouted through Davis Bay as crews work to clear the debris and water from the highway with the help of snowplows and other equipment. Bus routes #1 and #90 have been suspended since just before 10 a.m.

DriveBC tweeted that the stretch of highway has reopened.

One Davis Bay resident reported his weather vane showed winds up to 70 kilometers per hour.
